Traveling has been little tricky during these couple of years. Even though things are getting better, there are many places which have travel restrictions in place and it's better to have full information in hand before you plan your travel.
Covid Restrictions:
Me and my husband travelled during mid July, 2021 via air. According to their website they are supposed to check your vaccination card for vaccinated travelers, or check covid negative test if you are not vaccinated. But to my surprise there were no checks we just landed and got out of airport as if there is no covid like situation in this world. 😦. Although, I would recommend take precautions as recommended in their website before you travel.
When to visit Alaska
Alaska is very big and there are lots of things you can do when u visit there. Alaska offers wide range of activities and amazing different experiences and views for both summer and winter.
Alaska offers different experiences during summer and winter. So its better You really must know what you want type of experience you want to get from Alaska. We visited during summer and it is lot different during summer.
Exploring Alaska
There are two popular ways to get to Alaska - Cruise or Air.
If you are planning in summer, I would recommend doing a round trip from Anchorage.
If you are planning in winter, land in Fairbanks and return from Anchorage.
Lots of places and glaciers are easily accessible from Anchorage. Most popular things to do in Fairbanks are Northern lights and Hotsprings, both cant be experienced in summers.
I would recommend to plan for a week at-least to get most of the beautiful state.
1) Hiking on Glaciers (popular is Matanuska Glacier), 1.5 hours away from anchorage
2) Class 5 River Rafting, here is the video of our experience
3) Helicopter/ Single engine plane ride over the top of the glaciers and Denali Summit (a must have experience)
4) Drive from Anchorage to Whittier (breath taking views), also Whittier has the longest tunnel of North America.
5) While you are at Whittier there you see lots of small cruise companies that takes you near the glaciers. The one we did was 26 glacier cruise where they show 26 glaciers and it was an amazing experience.
p.s cruise rides are really chilly as they take you through glaciers so go prepared :)
6) Visit Denali National Forest (you might get lucky finding bears :)
7) Kayaking near Glaciers.
These are few of my recommendations.
Here are few pictures from my trip.

(this picture is from the highest point of Denali Summit, only way to reach is through jet plane )
