Let me tell you a story of 16 year old girl who dreamed about being ambidextrous..
It started off as simple thought and far fetched dream. It was during my 11th standard I was sneaking from my parents to write all my secrets in my personal dairy and I had the urge to write with left hand may be because I heard all those stories about people who write with left hand are smart, logical, critical thinkers blah blah blah.. so I tried couple of days and gave up because it was tough.
But that thought never left my mind. Every time I see some lefthand writers I run into my fantasy of being ambidextrous, each time I would give up in one or two days and the story repeats.

Learning a new skill needs constant effort and time. Life is tricky, when you have time you don’t know how to channel your efforts, once you learn that you are already in the life race and you don’t have time anymore 😂. Anyway, Lockdown during covid gave me good time to take a break and think about myself and that is when I wanted to pursue all my long pending dreams and writing with left had is one of them.
I started practicing when ever I found time, some times I would just write out my thoughts or some times just the subtitles of some show I was watching and some times good Wiki’s (why not gain some knowledge while learning new skill, this was toughest though..) I was consistent till I got a good flow, till I stopped feeling the pain and it took me around a month and half. I used to write one page each day and I maintained a separate book for this to track my progress, and slowly I changed my schedule to write one in two days and then I used to grab every opportunity to write with my left hand..
Having right table, chair, pen and book.. everything plays crucial role when you start, those unused muscles ache with in one or two lines but you have to push yourself to complete the day goal, this particular one really helped me to keep me going and to build that muscle. Initially I concentrated on getting the letters in good shape than speed, practicing regularly will improve speed. Don’t compare it any way with your dominant hand writing (after all you have been writing with that hand for your whole life) be consistent and keep motivated.
